General Tips

  • Start the hike as early as possible to avoid the crowds and to improve the likelihood of favourable weather conditions.

  • The views are weather dependent so be flexible with your timing. Try and arrange the hike for a day where the weather looks the most promising. The weather can change at short notice so ensure that you pack clothing for all conditions.

  • Either pack your lunch and have a picnic (recommended location just beyond Kleine Scheidegg towards Wengen) or eat at one of the few restaurants in the small town.

  • This hike fits in well as part of a larger 5 Day Jungfrau Region itinerary.

Where to Next

  • Staying in Wengen or Lauterbrunnen: continue the hike from Kleine Scheidegg following the Mendelssohn Path towards Wengen. Get incredible views of Murren and Gimmelwald as you walk. If you are tired of walking, the train passing through Kleine Scheidegg station can transport you back to Wengen or stay on the same line to return to Lauterbrunnen.

  • Staying in Grindelwald: you can either return to Männlichen via the Panorama Trail or hike back down to Grindelwald via the Eiger Trail. Note that this hike is extreme and would take considerable levels of fitness and preparation.
